Psychiatry is a medical branch that deals with the clinical methodology of diagnosing and treating mental problems. Psychiatrists are medical doctors that may give medical prescriptions to their patients. They are doctors who deal with patients that suffer from anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorders, depression or post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD).
Psychiatry is different from Psychology. Psychology, on the other hand, is the study of the human mind and behavior in forms of external methods like lab tests, surveys and interviews. They serve as counselors aiding the patients’ needs to function properly despite stress, grief, trauma or mental disorders that need not medical prescription.
