With interests in women’s health, mental health, end-of-life care, infertility, sarcoidosis, addiction medicine adoption medicine and patient safety.
Born and raised in Wisconsin and the oldest of 4 children, Dr. Dall-Winther has lived in the Midwest her entire life. She was lucky enough to attend medical school at the UW School of Medicine & Public Health, where she also completed her residency. Though her training was centered in Madison, she trained at one of her program’s rural clinics - in Belleville, WI.

Following residency, she moved from her beloved Madison to begin her first job as an attending/consultant at Mayo Clinic. During her 10 years at Mayo, she practiced inpatient/outpatient medicine and obstetrics, and also held several leadership positions, including Patient Safety Officer for the entire Mayo Clinic Health System (70+ clinics & 17+ hospitals spanning 3 states), Medical Director for Value Analytics & Affordability, Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Family Medicine in La Crosse, WI, and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

In 2015, Dr. Dall-Winther’s world turned upside-down when she lost her good health and became a patient herself, eventually being diagnosed with what is now advanced sarcoidosis. Things also tragically changed for her again in 2016, when she lost her Dad to lung cancer just 5 weeks after his diagnosis, at age 61, secondary to his life of service in fire-fighting, having never smoked in his lifetime. These two events led her to re-evaluate her priorities and gifted her with the realization that success was not defined by being a CEO at Mayo Clinic, but rather by the continued opportunity to serve others, all the while spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, loving on her Mini Goldendoodle Penny, following Brandi Carlile around the country, and doing the other things that give her joy in this world.

This realization became her resignation from Mayo Clinic and in 2018, she moved her husband & 6 children to Northern Wisconsin, where they now live on a lake, with their 26+ chickens, and other pets. Since then, now holding a license to practice Medicine & Surgery in 24 states, she said held various clinical positions, mostly working as a consultant, while she looked for work that again inspired and drove her the way her previous work had. She is so very thrilled that she found that inspiration in a full-time position at 98point6 (www.98point6.com) and now here at Second Opinions, where she hopes to bring peace of mind to those otherwise feeling, perhaps, frightened and lost.

Dr. Dall-Winther rocks a tattoo on her left forearm that says “make me a channel of Thy peace” which seems quite fitting for this work. She looks forward to serving you as your paths cross one another’s down the road!
