Preventive Medicine is broad branch of medicine that centralizes on the maintenance of the health of a certain population or group of individuals. Also known as Preventive Healthcare or Prophylaxis, Preventive Medicine as its name suggests practice disease prevention as compared to disease treatment.

This branch of medicine is established in order to avoid deaths caused by preventable diseases. These diseases are commonly acquired due to communicable diseases or diseases passed on from one individual to another due to insects. Other factors that may cause such diseases are environmental factors and lifestyle choices. It is a branch of medicine that deals more on aiding an individual or group of individuals to avoid contracting diseases or easily identifying any acquired diseases at an early stage.
