There, she participated in the Honors Program and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Chemistry. She continued her education at Creighton for medical school, and participated in the Admissions Committee and peer mentoring programs. Of note, she was an avid Creighton basketball fan during her eight years of schooling. Here, she learned the fundamentals of hospital and primary care medicine.

Since then, she has worked as a locum tenens (travelling) physician around California and Washington. This has given her experience working in hospitals of varying sizes (large academic centers, community hospitals, and rural critical-access hospitals) serving diverse patient populations. She has also developed a thorough practical knowledge of disease processes, diagnostics, treatments, and hospital protocols.

Volunteering is an important part of her life. She currently assists Northwest Harvest by packing and sorting food for local food banks. She has volunteered for ten other organizations over the past decade, including attending to donors at a blood bank, doing office work for a hospice, teaching children art projects at a children's museum, and travelling to Romania for a medical service trip. Her other interests include gardening, brewing beer, travelling, and hiking with her husband and dogs.
